Instrument person / chainman is largely responsible for assisting the Crew Chief with measuring angles, distances and elevations during daily activities including boundary, topographic and construction surveys.

Responsibilities /Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Surveying experience is a plus 
  • The successful candidates and must have a valid Washington State Driver’s license
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check and have a safe driving record

Utilizing various survey instruments and tools to perform field survey tasks, installs stakes, hubs, bars and other materials as directed by Crew Chief, cut vegetation with hand tools as directed by Crew Chief, installs traffic control as necessary to perform survey activities in a safe environment, monitors and replenishes field supplies for assigned crew and informs appropriate staff of any deficiencies, schedules and coordinates maintenance of crew rig including – regular maintenance, tires, washing, etc., and maintains log of vehicle maintenance, places survey control monuments from positions established by field crew.
